There were several long faces in Harbin, China Saturday April 12th as the Women's USA hockey team was able to beat Canada 4-3. Canada started out with a goal by Sarah Vaillancourt in the first period, followed by four unanswered goals for Team USA. Jenny Potter opened the scoring for the USA squad, followed by Angela Ruggiero, and two goals from Natalie Darwitz.
Jennifer Botterill and Katie Weatherston scoring in the third period, but Canada wasn’t able to make it back from the three goal deficit.
A competitive tournament is great for the game, and the USA-Canada rivalry is really heating up. I expect that the Canadian girls will come back to the next tournament hungry for victory.
